Home 10 years later. Still on the move.

10 years ago, Europe was on edge: in a short period, over a million people fled war and oppression to seek refuge in Europe. The images are etched in our memory.

Now, 10 years later, the cameras are gone—but the crisis is not over. People are still arriving on the Greek islands. People who are forced to live in inhumane conditions in camps, waiting for decisions on their asylum applications. Across Europe, the situation has not improved over the past decade. While funds dry up and organisations leave, our help is still urgently needed.

10 years of Boat Refugee Foundation. 10 years in which we have continuously provided essential healthcare, a listening ear, and a safe space for people on the move. 10 years in which we have been committed to humane reception and just policies. 10 years of Boat Refugee Foundation. Not a moment to celebrate, but a moment to renew attention for people seeking refuge and the situation they encounter in Europe. Will you help? Because solidarity should never be temporary.

This year we look back on 10 years of Boat Refugee Foundation. Over the next 10 weeks, we’ll be sharing the history of Boat Refugee Foundation, developments in Europe and Greece around migration, asylum, and refugee aid. We’ll be sharing memories, photos, and stories.

Without you — and all the other volunteers, staff members, donors, and supporters from the past 10 years — our story wouldn’t be complete. That’s why we’re asking: please share your memories and photos with us, and on your own social media with #10YearsOnTheMove. Below you’ll find a sneak preview.

You are an unforgettable part of our story. You’ll be hearing more from us in the coming weeks—and we hope to hear from you too!
