THE HOTTEST JULY
12 Aug
News
Last July was the hottest ever registered in Greece and this was also noticeable on Lesvos.
With temperatures reaching around 30 degrees daily, with regular spikes upwards, it was and remained incredibly hot in the camp. There is no shade anywhere in the camp. People were exposed to the heat and burning sun all day long.
We also saw the effect of the heat during our shifts. Many people came to the clinic only later in the evening because it was too hot earlier in the day.
Last month’s heat once again highlighted the poor conditions in the camp and the need for better facilities.
